– Every pet lover.
Everyone with a dog would know that their furry friends are first and foremost, extremely loving and loyal companions. For many pet owners, their dogs are more of a family member. These loyal, funny, sweet animals are such wonderful companions that it can be difficult to imagine what life would be without them.
Having a pet is tons of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. From regular exercise to a healthy diet, regular vet visits, training and more, there are varios things to consider – and always something new to learn throughout your journey as a pet parent.
Our dogs are faithful buddies and they depend on us for their deserving care.
To help your dog live a healthy life, you should know some of the most common health problems they face, their signs and what you can do about them.
EAR INFECTIONS:
According to Dr.Vinayak Sharma, ear infections are a common canine health problem and they can be caused by allergies, yeast, ear mites, bacteria, hair growth deep in the ear canal, and many more factors.
Solutions: Always take your dog to the veterinarian if you think he has an ear infection. In most cases, cleaning and medicating the ear canal will quickly clear up an infection. However, surgery might be needed for chronic infections or if forceful head shaking results in the rupture of a vessel within outer part of the ear.
FLEAS TROUBLE:
According to Dr.Vikram, it just takes three weeks for one flea to turn into an infestation of 1,000 biting bugs. A very common canine health problem, fleas are easy for your dog to pick up, since they’re easy targets. Take him for a walk and BOOM! There’s a flea in his ear or on his neck.
Signs your dog may have fleas include:
- 1)Excessive scratching, licking, or biting at the skin.
- 2)Hair loss
- 3)Hot spots
- 4)Allergic dermatitis
- 5)Tapeworms (which are carried by fleas)
- 6)Flea dirt (looks like small black dots) against your dog’s skin.
Solution: Take the right flea medicine for your dog, which may include anti-flea collars, medicine, shampoo, spray, or tropical liquids.
DRY SKIN RELIEF FOR YOUR DOG:
Keeping your dog’s skin healthy and free from itching may be as simple as following one of these suggested remedies.
- Olive oil: adding some olive oil to your dog’s food can help keep its skin free from itching.
- Apple cider vinegar by spraying it on your dog’s skin.
Sometimes taking their care could be more demanding than taking care of a human. But it will always be more rewarding in terms of love, affection, bond, etc.
